OX KING NOODLES EXPERIENCE

Welcome back food lovers and let me share with you about a yummy Chinese Noodle place called Ox King Noodles in Victoria located at 780 Fisgard Street. I ask my available DineInSquad friend Anatoli to accompany me to this noodle shop for lunch.

Ox King Noodles is a Chinese eatery that has a focus on North China cuisine hence the focus on noodles. At the same time the restaurant also serves dishes like Hot Pot, Kebabs, Buns, and many other dishes as well. This place is very popular for international students from China as the food here like a home away from home for many.

We made our way over to Ox King at 12 PM as we hope to beat the lunch rush, and thankfully we make it just before the crowd. We walk into a small noodle shop that has roughly 12 seats in the form of two tables and a row of four seats up front and a view of the menu lay out above.

After doing a quick look we decided to order two beef ramen with a spicy miso base. Afterwards we quickly grab seats at one of the tables before the crowd behind us gets it.

After a wait that roughly around ten minutes our Spicy Beef Ramen has arrived, topped on the ramen was: slices of braised beef shank, hardboiled egg, slices of cabbage, green onion, pickled ground pork and green beans, and spicy chili flakes on top.

Now it was time to eat, as we want to enjoy our ramen before it gets cold. Anatoli slurp down some soup first, immediately I see his reaction in amazement. Turns out this is one of his best Asian soups he ever had, as he normally eats borscht. I decide to take a spoonful of the soup as well to see what manage to buzz Anatoli. As the broth gets wash down my throat, I can taste a mildly salty but beefy broth that is also rich at the same time with a kick of spiciness. From drinking the broth alone, I can sense the deliciousness that put into making this soup. Afterwards I start tasting the rest of the toppings on the soup. I first start with a slice of the beef shank, the beef shank was soft and tender and very flavorful. Next I tried the pickled ground pork and green beans, as I take a bite in, I felt a zip of saltiness as the green beans juice comes out in between each bite. It was delightful and balance out with the soup. The cabbage and green onions are crunchy of course and it taste quite nice when you have it with some of the broth in the soup.

Overall the Spicy Beef Ramen was delightful and very satisfying with delectable toppings. My advice for anyone who wants to eat here is that, if you get any of the soup dishes, be sure to know your spice tolerance as very spicy WILL burn your mouth unless you have a very high spice resistance. At the same time be wary of dining here after 4 PM as it gets very busy with delivery orders and a jammed packed restaurant.

Cheers,

AV
