Price: Average price is $6.50 CAD per taco

Tacofino is a Mexican restaurant that has a main focus on tacos in which the tacos are unique and are not like traditional tacos as they have a western spin on it.

I took a later lunch that day and I head over to TacoFino for lunch. I walk into a small building with 3 medium-sized tables and one table by the windows. The menu is above the cashier at the front and behind the cashier is where all the line cooks are preparing your tacos so you can glimpse in on the action. Looking at the menu there was a variety of delectable tacos to choose from since I didn't want to hold up the line that was starting to pile up behind me I decided to order a Fish, Steak, and Crispy Chicken Taco. Afterwards, I sat down at the corner of one of the tables with some water while I wait for my food to arrive.

After 15 minutes of waiting my food arrives in a small cardboard plate that doubles as a takeout tray. On it was my three tacos that I ordered and they look fantastic.

The Fish Taco:

  • long crispy piece of lingcod

  • tomato salsa

  • cabbage

  • chipotle mayo

The Steak Taco has:

  • few strips of grilled beef

  • siracha mayo

  • pickled carrots

  • daikon

  • onions

  • cilantro

The Crispy Chicken Taco has:

  • Two crispy pieces of chicken-shaped like massive nuggets,

  • generous spread of guacamole

  • black chili oil

  • topped with sprouts

  • cilantro

  • green onions

  • radishes

All three tacos came with a piece of lime for us to squeeze on the tacos in case we want a little enhancement to the flavour.

Now it was time to feast on some delicious tacos, I decided to start with the steak taco first, as I take a bite into the taco, I notice that the taste of the steak had a very familiar flavour. Turns out this taco reminds me of Vietnamese cooking because the seasoning of the steak taco is almost identical to the seasoning used in grilled steak in and at the same time the pickled veggies are commonly eaten with grilled meat. Overall it enjoyable and delicious to eat if you like Vietnamese style grilled meat.

I then decide to eat the Fish Taco, as I take a bite into this taco, I can feel the crunch of the crispy fish and cabbage with a hint of mild spice from the Chipotle mayo. It was delightful as it not often I had a crispy fish taco with crispy cabbage as generally the vegetables I get in a taco always end up soggy. After five delicious and crunchy bites, I finish the fish taco, and now it’s time to enjoy the Crispy Chicken taco. Initially, I had some challenges trying to hold my Crispy Chicken taco as the taco a bit big because of the crispy chicken inside. After finding my hold I took a bite which results in a crunch and smooth pleasure. It feels enjoying as I eat the crispy chicken with the crunchy sprouts while at the same time enjoy a smooth rich flavour from the guacamole with chili oil.

Overall, my dining experience at TacoFino was fantastic, I enjoyed the tacos as not only they were delicious, but they were also satisfying.

Cheers,

AV
