GRAIN TESTING BAR EXPERIENCE

Hello food lovers, DineInSquad followers and welcome back to another food adventure in Vancouver. Let me share with you about my dining experience in Vancouver, British Columbia at the Grain Testing Bar that also located on the first floor of 655 Burrard St (same address as the Mosaic Grille where we visited previously) in the Hyatt Hotel.

Accompanying me for this excursion is my friends Cathy and Matt who are still in Vancouver for another day before they head back to the island provinces of Canada. Grain Tasting Bar is a local bar that focuses on the local brewers of British Columbia. We walk in for lunch and the scenery was an open air style lounge with tables and couches. We decided to get a table on the side so we can have air flowing in more along with being able to see life outside the building. After sitting down we took a look at the menu to decide on what to eat for lunch today. On the menu there is a variety of options such as multiple salads and sandwiches, plus some delectable appetizers as well. After some discussion and thinking we decided to get the following: a Beef Brisket Nachos for Matt, I got the Pork Belly Bao with a substitution for slider buns as they ran out of Baos buns, and Cathy ordered the Kobe Meat Balls and Waffle Fry Bites.

After waiting for 25 minutes our food has arrive. My Pork Belly Sliders were loaded with a juicy piece of pork belly in each slider with pickled veggies and hoisin sauce. I decided to get a warm tomato bisque soup as my side.

Matt’s order of the nachos was topped with pieces of beef brisket, jalapeno, smoked Gouda, avocado with salsa verde and sour cream on the side.

Cathy’s two dishes arrived and the first was the Kobe meat balls in a san marzano tomato sauce topped with parmesan cheese and with crostini on the side. Next was the waffle fries topped with pieces of smoked beef brisket, BBQ sauce, and cheese curds.

Now that all our food has arrived, I grab one of the pork belly sliders and took a bite into it. The bun was crispy, with the pork belly being tender and soft to chew on, combined with the crunch of the pickled veggies with the hoisin sauce makes the bite very enriching. Afterwards I take another bite and wham, the slider was gone in two delicious bites.

Matt was also enjoying his overloaded nachos as well. He likes how each bite has a combination of crunchiness, spiciness, beefiness, and cheesiness. In terms of personal preference Matt does not have any sour cream with his nachos. The nachos were so delicious that Matt manages to complete the entire bowl of nachos within 15 minutes.

Cathy shares how the waffle fries are delicious because of the smoky BBQ sauce that dabbed on each waffle fry with a piece of beef brisket and melted cheese. She also mentions that the meatballs were soft and they break apart in your mouth before even taking a bite because they are super soft. Cathy use the crostini to help scoop the meatball up along with the sauce.

Overall this DineInSquad excursion in Vancouver was memorable and delicious. Also it would be a while before Cathy and Matt could join me again on a dining trip as they are on opposite sides of Canada.

Come back next time, as you will hear about my DineInSquad adventures in Las Vegas with one of the biggest diverse rosters yet.

Cheers,

AV
