MONTA RAMEN EXPERIENCE

Hello food lovers, DineInSquad followers and welcome to the first part of my food adventure in Las Vegas. Let me share with you about my dining experience in at Monta Ramen that located at 5030 Spring Mountain Rd #6. I will be doing a solo excursion to this restaurant as I flew in two days before a majority of the DineInSquad USA Team.

Monta Ramen is a small ramen shop that has a focus on a tonkatsu based broth in all of there ramen which means if you cannot eat pork; then this would not be a ramen shop I would recommend.

I went to the restaurant sometime around 2PM that day to notice a huge crowd outside waiting. Turn out the restaurant is very popular since it still busy after the lunch time rush, so in order to get a table you have to write your name down on a clipboard and wait to be called. After waiting for roughly 30 minutes my name got called and I went inside. The interior of the restaurant was small like roughly no more than 20 seats in the restaurant as a whole with eight of those seats being at the bar counter where you can see the cooks making ramen. I got to a seat at one of the corner tables which were decked out with all the essentials to enjoy Ramen (ex: chopsticks, a variety of sauces/seasonings etc.). Taking a look at the menu I can see that the options available are: six types of ramen bowls, one cold noodle bowl, six rice bowls, and gyozas. I was famished that afternoon because in addition to skipping breakfast I did not eat anything during the flight. After doing a quick skim I ordered a Miso Ramen and a Kimchi fried rice bowl.

Surprisingly after five minutes of ordering, my Miso Ramen has arrive which is probably in my dining experience the quickest turnaround time from ordering. In the bowl was a big helping of black mushrooms, green onions, some fermented bamboo, and submerged underneath the miso broth was medium thickness noodles, and two slices of chashu pork.

As I was hungry I start to enjoy the miso ramen first not bothering to wait for the fried rice as well. The broth has a medium taste that not too extremely oily or salty for my taste buds which is great as from previous experiences eating miso ramen it tends to be salty. The noodles were also balance as well not too thin and not too thick and crunchy which helps with chewing and swallowing at the same time. The black mushrooms and green onions were crunchy with a crunch in each bite. The fermented bamboo didn’t have a very strong vinegar smell that shocks the human nostril. The chashu pork was braised extremely well as the meat is very soft and breaks apart in my mouth with almost no effort on chewing. Overall this is one of the most balance miso ramen I have around and is definitely one I recommend for people who are new to eating ramen.

During my enjoyment of the miso ramen, roughly two minutes after getting my miso ramen; the kimchi rice bowl has arrived (ok definitely the quickest service I have ever seen in a restaurant).

The kimchi rice bowl contains scrambled eggs, green and white onions, chopped chashu pork, and kimchi all cooked together with rice and shaped into a rice bowl accompanied with a small portion of pickled red ginger.

After finishing the ramen, I took a quick one minute breather to enjoy the appearance of the rice as it gives off a light radiating gold color. I switch to a fork as the dish is on a plate so chopsticks would not work too well and I take my first scoop of the fried rice. As I take a bite into the fried rice I can feel the radiating spiciness that coming from the kimchi which is nullified partially because of the amount of rice, pork, and egg that is used in the dish. The onions were crunchy as well like they were put in near the end so that with the existing crunch it balances out the softness of the rice and egg. I tried a piece of the pickled ginger and realize that since it has a more sour taste I mixed it in the rice. The result was a sour, spicy, crunchy, and soft texture with rice that was very delicious. Along with the ramen both dishes has made me stuffed and satisfied for the rest of the day.

In conclusion, my late lunch at Monta Ramen was Montarific, as I never been to a restaurant that has such a quick turnaround from ordering with delicious food. This is definitely a place I would recommend for people when they are in Las Vegas and wants to go explore off the Strip. Like I mention earlier, this place is very popular so wait times could take at least 30 minutes, but once you get your seat the service is very quick.

Come back next time to hear about my further dining adventures in Las Vegas where I will be accompanied by many members of the DineInSquad USA Team.

Cheers,

AV
